One-on-one Nutrition Counseling

I provide one-on-one nutrition counseling to help address a wide variety of health concerns. Many of us can feel judged about what we eat, so I work to maintain an open, non-judgmental and confidential environment in sessions. Nutrition science is constantly evolving, and I make it my mission to stay up-to-date with the latest research to provide the best recommendations for clients. At the moment, all sessions are conducted virtually or, if need be, over the phone.

How does it work?

We’ll start with a 60-minute assessment, to get a sense of your health, family and diet history, recent lab results, current eating patterns, health concerns, goals and current lifestyle. Based on this, I’ll create a set of personalized nutrition goals for you to work on over the next few weeks. In follow-up appointments, we can work together to fine-tune your plan and build on your progress.

Insurance coverage:

Unfortunately, at the moment, a dietitian’s services are not covered by OHIP (we are working on it!). However, private insurance policies often cover sessions with a dietitian, or include a health care spending account that can be applied toward a dietitian’s services, by submitting a receipt for reimbursement. If you do have private insurance, it’s worth checking your plan to see if you are covered.

Interested in a nutrition subscription?

I am now offering a monthly nutrition subscription service, through the platform Subkit. For a monthly fee, you can get 2 discounted sessions with me every month, along with ongoing support over email. This is a fantastic option for anyone looking to start a longer health journey and really achieve amazing results.

Questions before you get started?

I’m happy to chat with you over the phone and answer any questions you have, to see if working together will be a good fit.

General Nutrition

High blood pressure or cholesterol? Challenges following a healthy eating schedule? Cravings? Issues with your relationship to food and eating? Questions about vitamins and other supplements? Whatever your concerns are surrounding nutrition and food, I’m here to listen and help.

Mood, energy and focus

My favourite area of nutrition is the fascinating connection between food and mental health. New research is showing that inflammation plays an important role in depression, anxiety and energy, and the foods we eat can go a long way in lowering inflammation. Scientists have even termed this relationship the “gut-brain axis.” In addition, keeping our blood sugars stable goes a long way in keeping our mood and energy stable as well. I truly believe in the power of nutrition to support the health of our brains, so connect with me to find out more!

Digestive Health

Our digestive system forms the barrier between the food we eat and the rest of our body, allowing nutrients in and keeping toxic things out. Additionally, new research is highlighting the critical importance of the trillions of bacteria in our gut in numerous aspects of our health. All in all, digestive health is a passion of mine! Whether you’re dealing with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), reflux/heartburn, celiac disease, constipation or other digestive issues, a dietitian can be an immense help.

Kids and Teens

Our childhood years are critical for establishing good eating habits and a healthy relationship with food. I have tons of experience working with kids, and completed my clinical training at SickKids Hospital, so I bring a lot to the table when it comes to nutrition for children and teens! Help set your kids up for a lifetime of healthy eating, or work with me on nutrition to support any health struggles your child might have.

Specialized Diets

While many dietitians discourage specialized diets like the paleo, vegan, gluten-free or ketogenic diets, I believe it’s important to respect each person’s unique reasons for following any of these diets. Where do I, the dietitian, come in? I can help you work within the parameters of a specialized diet to make it safe and easier to maintain over time. Any time we restrict our diet, we risk missing out on critical nutrients, but a dietitian can create a plan to make sure you stay healthy on a wide variety of diets.

Weight Management

Weight management is a different than weight loss: it puts the emphasis on overall health, rather than numbers on a scale. Since research shows yoyo-ing with weight can be harmful to our physical, mental and emotional health in the long run, I prefer to focus on establishing new habits and sustainable goals that will last a lifetime. I believe in a Health At Every Size approach, meaning that the shape and size of your body is not a reliable indicator of your health. However, if you are concerned about your weight, I’m here to provide evidence-based guidance in a supportive and non-judgmental way.
